1940's Utility Chair with the double cheese mark on the frame covered in Camira Nettle collection.
Small cushion with vintage buttons is included.
If you are interested in vintage design you will love this chair (and me for letting you have it!) Utility furniture was a government scheme during wartime austerity. New furniture was rationed - restricted to newly-weds and families who lost everything in bombing raids.
The double cheese symbol - CC41 stands for Citizen Clothing 1941. Continuing until 1952, the designs were largely in the tradition of the Arts and Crafts movement - severe in their simplicity with a lack of ornamentation that puts me in mind of the American Shaker movement!
Originally it was spray painted a two tone gold colour. The legs have been stripped and resprayed (iron back legs) and polished (wooden front legs). The basketweave of the body of the chair is intact (unusual for this type of chair) and the original gold colour has become muted with age but is still impressive..

In very special cases we will consider bringing the chair to you for 'trying out'. We know all to well how fabric and size will affect your decision. Limited only to London.
We currently only ship to the UK mainland.
All orders come carefully packaged with lots of padding to keep them safe, however wherever possible we use recycled boxes so they may not look as pretty on the outside as they do on the inside!
We have a sliding scale of charges based on size. Small - £50 Medium - £75 Large - £100 The delivery charge will be added to the cost in the payment process at the checkout. It is in addition to the price of the item shown in the shop..
Please note that all furniture is NON RETURNABLE AND NON REFUNDABLE. Our furniture is all vintage and therefore shows signs of wear and tear in accordance with it's age. We try to give an accurate and honest description of each piece to the best of our abilities..
