Upholstery by Sally Bell

Following a successful career in design management, a change of course provided Sally with the opportunity to return to making things and to further develop her creative skills.

Sally's eye for the art of the possible, combined with her appreciation of design and craftsmanship lead her to undertake her City and Guilds Advanced qualification in upholstery at London Metropolitan University. In 2009 she was awarded the Worshipful Company of Upholders' first prize for upholstery work. She has also completed a City and Guilds Intermediate soft furnishing and wood finishing courses.

For Sally, the joy of upholstery comes in seeing the positive changes that wood restoration and new upholstery can bring to forlorn pieces of furniture. Examples of her work cover all furniture periods and include, a Victorian iron back, 30's fluted rocking chair and a church organ chair.
