The London Chair Collective

Upholstery by Angela White

It is very satisfying to take a rickety old frame and restore it to a state of plump gorgeousness. Buffing up the sleek finish of a contemporary frame has a different appeal. And somewhere inbetween lies the creation of furniture which will sit comfortably in modern family house. I design and make soft furnishings for peoples homes and want upholstery to reflect their neeeds and way of life.

I take a special interest in pieces which save space by serving a dual purpose, such as stools that turn into steps, bed-heads that are room dividers and chairs which can become beds or have hidey-holes for the remote...or an emergency stash of chocolate.

I am currently experimenting with sustainably sourced fillings to make jointed cushions for a range of mid-century modern chairs, and informal seating.
